My first drawing. I asked my grandmother what to draw when I was sitting at the kitchen table. She told me to draw an owl. I finished this owl at 4am the following morning. I was not aware that I could illustrate in this manner. I took my bike to Stanley Park in Vancouver, Canada the following day and came face to face with the same species of owl. We spent 15 minutes looking at each other no more than one foot away. I had never seen an owl before, especially during the day as they are nocturnal. In North American First Nations medicine, the owl is considered the messenger. This owl brought the message for me to follow my creative path, and thus began my path as an artist.
